Design Tip: Colorful Dining Room Chairs

Using an assortment of painted chairs is increasingly becoming a popular choice for people who want an eclectic look versus the traditional stained “set” look. Kitchen and dining rooms are typically full of activity, and it’s fun to be able to capture that energy through color. We often encounter clients who want painted chairs in a variety of colors, but are wary of the look being too contrived. Or people who want to introduce just a splash of color versus the whole rainbow.

Deck Design Dilemma

This month’s Design Dilemma comes from a young family near NYC who own a beautiful three-story brownstone. They have a lower patio area in the back with a built-in grill & bar, and would like to create a spot for play dates, lounging, and casual entertaining. They also have a second floor deck, right off the kitchen, that is smaller (17′ L x 7’W) that they want to use as a quieter seating area for morning coffee and quick bites.

Rooms To Love: Luxurious Lemon

Luxury and whimsy share a beautiful home in this lovely cottage style bedroom. Even though the color palette is strong, these luscious colors combine to breathe life, energy, and joy into every corner, while creating an inviting and cozy area to retreat within. The walls are decorated in a large bohemian print that is a surprising, yet inspiring, choice for a bedroom. The strong gold color from the wallpaper is carried over into the zesty lemon drapes. In order to create balance within the space, the dominating prints of the wallpaper and the drapes are paired with minimalist furniture designs. Clean lines and simple shapes help to relieve the eye of overload, and is exactly why the white linens are a perfect finishing touch to the room.

Inspiration Board: Black, Charcoal & Olive

This black, charcoal, and olive color scheme has a modern and urban appeal that would be perfect for a living room fit for entertaining. The track arm sofa has slender arms and simple lines, while the soft olive colored fabric makes for luxurious and inviting seating. Pairing two different styled sofas in complementary fabrics creates a diverse and interesting space. The surrounding accents are key in pulling the two sofas together, and the wide striped rug is an eye catching anchor for the room. The mercury lamp adds just the right amount of glitz – a great way to introduce a new material, and the glass reflects a beautiful glow from the light.

Personalizing A Monochromatic Space

Who says monochromatic decorating has to be boring? The use of varying degrees of taupe keeps this space calming and quiet – perfect for reading or conversation. Introducing chrome and metallic accents help enhance the visual stimulation while adding an unexpected zest to this serene space. To our valued customers,

Given the current market uncertainty, we felt it would be a good idea to provide you an update on our products. As you may know, we are a small, family-owned business that has been offering custom made furniture from our 15 US based workshops for over 20 years. Each of our custom furniture collections is made at a different workshop. We are a small business that supports other small businesses.

Fortunately for us, our workshops have minimal exposure to import tariffs. Our wood species (both new and reclaimed), iron beds, upholstery frames, seat cushions and floor cloths are all sourced in the US. Selective hardware, shoreline fabrics, and finishing products are imported but are a small percentage of our overall cost. Our wicker furniture frames are imported but cushions are all sourced in the US.

Currently, we have two collections affected by tariffs:

Cottage Wicker Furniture Collection: 6% Tariff
Shoreline Slipcovered Furniture Collection: 3% Tariff

We do not anticipate any significant price changes due to import tariffs. We look forward to continuing to create unique furniture designed by you and custom built for you.

Thank you,
