Rooms to Love: Mix & Match Living

Mixing and matching old wood accents with select newer pieces gives this living room an exciting blend of old & new. The fireplace is flanked by two different built-in cabinets; keeping them the same white seen on the fireplace creates a consistent flow across the far wall. The heightened mantelpiece and reclaimed wood feature create a central focal point and draws the eye directly to the fireplace. At night, we imagine the illuminating sconces and fire would create a wonderfully cozy place to sit and relax or watch a movie!

Rooms To Love: Delightful Cottage Kitchen

This darling cottage kitchen is the perfect size for a weekend getaway. It offers the essentials without any unneeded extras cluttering the small space. The backdrop of all white allows the pastel color palette to pop and draws your eye immediately to the arrangement of polka dots, florals, fabric collages, and painted furniture. The use of lateral and longitudinal boards on the walls, floors, and ceilings emphasize the structure to visually create a larger space. The drop leaf table is a perfect solution for a tight kitchen and saves on space until in use.

Rooms To Love: Beach Bungalow

The white slipcovered loveseat with high flared arms sets the tone for this beach bungalow. The crisp white fabric plays beautifully with the floor-to-ceiling windows, which allows the sunlight to pour into the room. Pops of color are scattered to offset the light to ensure the room maintains balance. The blend of bold colored accents immediately takes you to a beach landscape with the aquas mimicking the ocean and the oranges evoking a brilliant summer sunset.

Design Tip: Foyer Space

Color is one of the most important elements in designing a room or space. It sets the tone for a room and provides a background for the rest of the design. Generally, stronger and brighter colors should be used in the smallest amounts as a tool to accent a space. Use a bright color in a foyer to invite guests into the home and play up a smaller space. A bright blue is clean and crisp, giving the space a bright, airy feel. Balance the brightness by bringing in accents, such as an array of pictures, a rich runner, or a unique chair.

Design Tip: Mix & Match

A mix of country cottage bedroom furniture is far more interesting than all matching pieces. The styles should all work together; mix paints, stains, textures and materials for a more relaxed atmosphere.

Living & Family Rooms

When decorating a living room consider first, how often do you use your living room? Is it reserved for company or does it get everyday use? If you do a lot of formal entertaining, you’ll approach the design of your living room differently than if it is the center of your family life.

To our valued customers,

Given the current market uncertainty, we felt it would be a good idea to provide you an update on our products. As you may know, we are a small, family-owned business that has been offering custom made furniture from our 15 US based workshops for over 20 years. Each of our custom furniture collections is made at a different workshop. We are a small business that supports other small businesses.

Fortunately for us, our workshops have minimal exposure to import tariffs. Our wood species (both new and reclaimed), iron beds, upholstery frames, seat cushions and floor cloths are all sourced in the US. Selective hardware, shoreline fabrics, and finishing products are imported but are a small percentage of our overall cost. Our wicker furniture frames are imported but cushions are all sourced in the US.

Currently, we have two collections affected by tariffs:

Cottage Wicker Furniture Collection: 6% Tariff
Shoreline Slipcovered Furniture Collection: 3% Tariff

We do not anticipate any significant price changes due to import tariffs. We look forward to continuing to create unique furniture designed by you and custom built for you.

Thank you,

Your Cottage Home Team
