Design Tip: Spring is in the Air!

Design Tip: Spring is in the Air!

Spring is here, and with the blooming of buds on the trees and flowers in our gardens, here at Cottage Home we are inspired to bring that color inside! It’s time to shed the wool blankets, kick off the slippers, and get decorating for spring.

A very easy and effective way to transition your living room from Winter neutrals to Summer color is to swap out the accessories. It’s as easy as replacing, or adding, colorful throw pillows to your sofa or swapping out your lamps for a pop of color. Also, think about choosing a less expensive throw rug to swap out periodically versus investing in a more expensive area rug. Or even layer your rugs to create a dynamic look. Here is an example of a winter to summer look in no time:

The brown and slate color combination in the before picture creates a soothing and cozy retreat.  A perfect place to curl up with a good book through the long winter months.  It is a refined decorating style with mercury and black accents that contrast against the neutral taupe tones.

By switching out the accents in the room, the overall mood of the space changes dramatically. Changing minor things, like adding new throw pillows, incorporating bright accents, and using a colorful rug, brings the whole room to life. This living room now has the personality to match the energy and vibrancy of the coming summer months.

To our valued customers,

Given the current market uncertainty, we felt it would be a good idea to provide you an update on our products. As you may know, we are a small, family-owned business that has been offering custom made furniture from our 15 US based workshops for over 20 years. Each of our custom furniture collections is made at a different workshop. We are a small business that supports other small businesses.

Fortunately for us, our workshops have minimal exposure to import tariffs. Our wood species (both new and reclaimed), iron beds, upholstery frames, seat cushions and floor cloths are all sourced in the US. Selective hardware, shoreline fabrics, and finishing products are imported but are a small percentage of our overall cost. Our wicker furniture frames are imported but cushions are all sourced in the US.

Currently, we have two collections affected by tariffs:

Cottage Wicker Furniture Collection: 6% Tariff
Shoreline Slipcovered Furniture Collection: 3% Tariff

We do not anticipate any significant price changes due to import tariffs. We look forward to continuing to create unique furniture designed by you and custom built for you.

Thank you,

Your Cottage Home Team
