Design Tip: Weathered Painted Finishes
Both driftwood and white washed furniture finishes are gaining popularity and demand in today’s decorating trends. Whether it is a modern living room, or a rustic dining room, these finishes fit in everywhere. The “washed” look is made by using a watered down and thinned paint, so that when it is applied, the natural wood grain will show through. It is a perfect solution for those who want to see the texture and character of a hardwood piece, but aesthetically want to incorporate painted pieces, versus stained, into their decor. The beauty of both of these finishes is that they act as a neutral tone that you can build an entire room around. Here are two examples of how to put together a fashionable look using these foundation finishes!
In the whitewash dining room, the soft blue tones of the rug and throw pillows accent the crisp, clean white finishes beautifully. Everything has an ethereal quality that makes it stylish and fresh. The coral artwork adds a hint of ocean life for a unique coastal element.

The driftwood wash has a slightly warmer effect and is accented here with taupe and cream for a cohesive look. The pearl white rug is a great way to keep the overall look light and airy, and is one of the softest rugs out there. A true pleasure for bare feet.

God do I wish your store was down here in Florida. I love everything in it. My husband was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer just as we were starting to decorate. So we have not been able to do our Florida home especially our living room. I love the colors sea foam green and pink and cream. I love upholstered furniture. I think I want a sectional or sofa and love seat for a lot of comfortable seating arrangement. I love distressed types of tables and furniture. Looks like you have all of that.
